Lakota Herbs: Provides Revolutionary Joint Care Products for Osteoarthritic Pain
Ontario, Canada, October 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The results of a new clinical study show that Lakota Extra Strength Joint Care reduced osteoarthritc pain 2.4 times more than placebo. It also improved physical function, and reduced stiffness.
The authors of the study, Dr. David Crowley and Dr. Dale Wilson concluded that “Lakota Extra Strength Joint Care Formula was more effective as compared to placebo and reduced the WOMAC® pain score in the target knee 2.4 times, WOMAC® stiffness score 1.2 times and WOMAC® physical function score 2.1 times greater than placebo. This data suggests that treatment with Lakota Extra Strength Joint Care Formula maintained positive effects during the course of the 28 days of the study in comparison to placebo.”
The randomized double blind placebo-controlled study on the efficacy of Lakota Extra Strength Joint Care Formula is the first study focusing on the efficacy of Lakota Joint Care products.
The study involved 18 adults over 45 diagnosed with OA of the target knee (Kellgren and Lawrence radiological score of stage I to III). Participants were also required to have a score ≥ 40 mm on the first item of WOMAC® scale. Participants were given either Lakota Extra Strength Joint Care or a placebo for 4 weeks.
The Lakota Extra Strength Joint Care Formula group showed a greater mean reduction in WOMAC® scores in all the three WOMAC® sections (pain, stiffness, and physical function) at the two and four week assessments, when compared to placebo. Group analyses demonstrated that treatment with Lakota Extra Strength Joint Care Formula was effective and reduced the WOMAC® pain score in subjects by 54%, stiffness scores by 55%, and physical function scores by 54.5% compared to 22.5%, 46.2%, and 26% respectively for placebo from baseline to week 4. Although due to small sample size, between group results were not statistically significant, within group results were statistically significant.
The incidence of adverse events was low and the prevalence was found to be less than the placebo group.
A second larger study is already underway. This study will follow 120 subjects over 8 weeks. Results are expected in mid 2010.
