Discussion Forum Regarding the Welfare of Orphaned and Neglected Children

A discussion forum regarding The Welfare of Orphaned and Neglected Children is being hosted at Emory University/ Goizueta Business School, on behalf of SOS Children’s Villages USA.

Atlanta, GA, October 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The event will take place on November 12, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m., with a meet & greet session immediately following the presentation (complimentary refreshments are being provided).

Discussion topics include: 1) The current state of care for children in need - an overview of US and international child welfare conditions & realities. 2) The SOS Family Care Model - 60 years of challenges & solutions. 3) Corporate Citizenship and Social Responsibility - what role do corporations and foundations play in the context of support for children in need? Panel guests include nationally known child welfare expert Dr. George Thomas, former CEO of SOS Children’s Villages/ Florida Margie Bruszer, and Prof. Dominic Thomas of the Emory University Goizueta Business School. Six former SOS Children from around the globe will share their experiences growing up in SOS facilities in the USA, Europe, and Africa. About the organization: SOS Children’s Villages (www.sos-usa.org) is the largest non-profit organization worldwide dedicated to the long term and sustained care of orphaned and abandoned children. SOS currently operates 500 villages in 132 countries, and is celebrating its 60th anniversary in November 2009.
