New Book Reveals History of New Orleans

Author will Donate Proceeds from “My New Orleans” to Local Charity.

New Orleans, LA, October 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- It’s been four years since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, but the effect of that storm is still being felt today. The storm may have wreaked havoc on buildings and landmarks, but for those who grew up calling New Orleans home, Katrina could not destroy their memories.

In her new book, “My New Orleans” author Lydia Guillot takes readers on a journey of “The Big Easy” through her eyes. Born and raised on 2714 Octavia Street – what was then called “Uptown New Orleans”, Guillot’s book reveals the history of New Orleans – including how the great city was founded, what made it flourish and how the different neighborhoods developed. She also gives a rich account of the history of Mardi Gras and delves into topics such as restaurants, education, and industry in New Orleans.

“My hope is that this book will spark an interest in readers to visit or live in New Orleans,” said Guillot. “My goal, like so many other New Orleans natives, is to see our great city flourish once again.”

To that end, Guillot will donate a all proceeds from “My New Orleans” to Carrollton Avenue Church of Christ.
