Montreal Artist Scott Addis to Exhibit at Gallery KH in Chicago
Moody landscapes by Scott Addis take center stage at Gallery KH in Chicago’s River North Gallery District.
Chicago, IL, October 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Gallery KH is pleased to present Uncommon Times, Common Places a warmly ambient collection of new landscapes by artist Scott Addis, opening October 30 through December 1, 2009. An opening night cocktail reception is scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2009, 5-8PM.
“We are thrilled to be hosting Scott Addis's new show as his work resonates with so many people in such a profound way. His landscapes are moody & timeless, evoking familiarity in their composition. Over the past five years his work has evolved as Addis has reinvented his technique over and over again. Today, we are looking at his best work to date and this exhibition is no exception,” says Kristen Hagan, Gallery KH Co-Director.
Born and raised in Leisenring, a small southwestern town in rural Pennsylvania, Scott Addis grew to love nature from a very young age. His first teacher was his father, who would bring him hunting and fishing and also spent hours sketching and drawing with him, both in nature and from pictures. Addis settled in Cincinnati where he eventually studied under artist Greg Storer. Storer taught him the importance of composition, value and special drawing. Continuing his studies, Addis found inspiration in the artwork of Inness, Turner and Whistler. Today Addis and his family are settled in Montreal where he is ever inspired by the Canadian landscape. States Addis, “With all of life’s changes or seasons, it seems that maturation is only possible in steps and is often circular in fashion. Failure to mature means a basic failure not only to grow, but also to survive. This same thing applies to my work.”
