Los Angeles- On October 30th at exactly 9:00 Pacific Standard Time (barring any paranormal interference), The All Reality Network will unveil the outrageous second episode of PIT - The Paranormal Investigative Team.
For those new to the intoxicating world of TV-on-the-internet-that still-insists-on-calling-itself-TV, PIT follows the outrageous and oftentimes dangerous adventures of Los Angeles' top paranormal investigative team as they travel the Southland in search of the unexplained.
"And we're not talking about those freaks you see roaming around Hollywood Boulevard late at night," explains the show's Founder and Lead Investigator, Art Mack. "We're investigating ghosts, unearthly creatures and other unexplainable entities from both the dead and should-be dead world. And California has plenty, believe me."
PIT's intense leader is joined by colorful Co-Founder "The" Deuce Moran, comely Research Specialist Pam Duberry, brilliant Audio/Video Technology Specialist Lear Levin and screw-up Investigator-In-Training Clark Dunwoody. All five agree that this season on The All Reality Network should produce some stellar results.
"Sure," offers Mack, "We've always been out there doing it to it, but ghosts have continually screwed with us. What's great about this season is that it's the first time that those evil spectral beings haven't been able to erase most of the stuff we caught on tape. And, even better, we haven't - so far anyway - lost any team members."
"Art's right," adds PIT Co-Founder "The" Deuce Moran. "We've had some unbelievable encounters this season. In tonight's show, a ghost actually appears to throw large cookies at us. And they're chocolate chips. What evil would do that? The home audience is gonna eat this stuff up!"
"We're truly excited to bring this second installment of PIT into America's homes and also to those sections of China that allow high-speed unmonitored internet," effuses The All Reality Network's President and sole-owner, Mr. Hack Simmons. “And on this week’s show, we have something extra special in store. The entire show is in glorious 3-D. That’s right – triple the excitement! Those ghosts are just going to pop off the screen right at you!”
Of course, most of what you've just read is pure fiction, but the rest is all fact.
PIT – The Paranormal Investigative Team is, in fact, the hilarious creation of Los Angeles writer/actor/director Thomas Mills. The searing parody goes deep behind the scenes at a fictitious, L.A-based TV ghost-hunting show. PIT seeks out ghosts, bizarre creatures and higher ratings for their struggling TV-on-the-internet-network, all the while trying to avoid Southland-centric things unique to the paranormal realm. Only in L.A. could a 3:00 A.M. traffic jam be caused by ghostly spirits.
Poking fun at the recent explosion of paranormal-themed programs was something Mills was compelled to do. It is October after all.
"It was either that or making fun of the World Series announcers' haircuts, and those guys pretty much take care of that themselves. Ghosts won out."
And ghosts, creatures and the paranormally unexplained - as they're presented on TV - has always interested the show's creator.
"I love the sincerity and commitment that most of these ghost hunter shows have. So, naturally, I wanted to pay tribute to that, but in a silly, outrageous kind of way. Our show certainly has plenty of dark corners and spooky investigations, but what excites me the most is what happens to our ghost hunting team when the cameras stop rolling on the PIT show. It's those behind the scenes conflicts – petty arguments, misunderstandings, love affairs, and rolling up tangled wires that appeal to me the most. The ghost chasing will provide the thrills but the team's ghost-of-a-chance in becoming a fully-functional unit is what provides the most fun for me."
A unique aspect of PIT is that it's played out on a hybrid platform of digital video and interactive website design. In other words, you can watch the show and then go deep behind the scenes on the website to learn more and get involved with the cast and the fictitious network.
"That's the extra fun part of our show," adds Mills. "Much of PIT's storyline is played out both during and after the latest episode. On our very interactive website www.paranormalinvestigativeteam.com, you can not only watch each week's webisode but then get in there with the show's cast and even into the head of The All Reality Network's schmaltzy owner. The entire site is user-friendly and really cool to buzz around. The episode we air each week is really only half of the story, and the website takes that jump-off point and builds a web storyline that viewers can really get involved in."
This week’s episode - "Dead and Breakfast" - continues PIT's horrifyingly hilarious investigation at the Meridian Mental Asylum where 27 patients recently lost their lives on the same night.
"PIT collectively figures out that 27 people croaking on the same night probably wasn't a coincidence," explains Mills. "so they take the case. When they get there they find out that the place has been turned into a lovely Bed & Breakfast. It makes things a bit more challenging."
PIT's talented cast includes actors Sanford Holsapple, Maxx Maulion, Heather Seiffert and Oscar Torre. This week's guest star is veteran actress Gail Silver.
