The President, Imma Tubella, has been named on the Global Advisory Council of The Observatory on Borderless Higher Education (OBHE). This group is responsible for reviewing and approving major programmes, services and external initiatives. The Observatory's primary purpose is to provide strategic information to enable policy-makers and institutional-organizational leaders to make informed decisions relevant to their existing and/or future cross-border higher education initiatives.
Barcelona, Spain, October 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The global mission of The Observatory requires a network of international professionals who understand the mission and role of cross-border higher education, emerging trends and developments, and new and continuing challenges and opportunities.
The Global Advisory Council (GAC) has been established to create an international advisory group of higher education, government, and private-sector professionals to support the mission and goals of The Observatory. It is envisioned that this body would provide consultative and advisory commentaries on a range of issues and initiatives related to cross-border higher education. Moreover, members of the GAC would be expected to engage in the following activities to support the mission and goals of The Observatory.
- Promote the mission, goals, and services of The Observatory to external global organizations, institutions and agencies.
- Advocate the value for subscribing and becoming member organizations in The Observatory.
- Provide recommendations, feedback and commentary on research topics, marketing activities, partnership proposals, conference and seminar events, and general services of The Observatory.
- Serve as a reviewer of research manuscripts that align with the GAC members’ expertise, experience and training.
- Advise the Chief Executive of The Observatory on potential funding opportunities and sources that align with the mission and goals of The Observatory.
- Serve as sponsors, speakers and hosts at sponsored meetings, seminars and events of The Observatory.
Global mission of The Observatory
The mission of The Observatory on Borderless Higher Education (OBHE) is to conduct state-of-the-art research, disseminate best practices, emerging trends, policy frameworks and assessment and quality assurance information; and develop strategic partnerships with public and private universities and organizations for the effective delivery of borderless higher education academic programmes and services. The Observatory's primary purpose is to provide strategic information to enable policy-makers and institutional-organizational leaders to make informed decisions relevant to their existing and/or future cross-border higher education initiatives.
The Observatory has over 180 organizational subscribers, representing 50 countries worldwide engaged in various aspects of transnational higher education and international cooperation. The Observatory partners with national and international organisations including the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Universities UK (UUK), UNESCO, the World Bank, the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA), the European Distance Educational Network (EDEN), the UK's Leadership Foundation and the Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications (WCET).
