Local Old Fashioned Candy Shop Finds Sweet Spot on National Television Network
Wisconsin Dells, WI, October 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The woman behind Swiss Maid Fudge doesn’t joke about sweets but she does make people smile. The old fashioned candy shop has been the family business since 1962. Today, local owner Jane Heller announces Swiss Maid Fudge will be part of the Lifetime Television show The Balancing Act for three episodes this fall and winter.
“We are so excited to be part of this series,” says Jane Heller owner of Swiss Maid Fudge. “Especially surrounding the holidays which is our busiest time of the year!”
The program is called “Home for the Holidays: Sweet Endings.” Heller will feature Swiss Maid Fudge homemade candies created especially for the holidays including: Peppermint Stick Fudge, Peppermint Stick Bark, Cranberry Walnut Fudge, Cranberry Walnut Bark, Gingerbread Bark, Gingerbread Truffles, Candy Cane and Peppermint Truffles, and some of their holiday apples. The Balancing Act aims to feature women who are juggling career and home while doing extraordinary things. The segment will air three times, November 11th, 19th and December 16th on the local Lifetime channel.
Swiss Maid Fudge first opened forty years ago in downtown Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Over the years the candy store has expanded to include salt water taffy, caramel apples, caramel corn, brittles, crunches and the list goes on. All of the candy is made the old European way using copper kettles and cooked over open gas fired cast iron stoves. Small batches ensure freshness and quality. Locals can peek into the action by taking a tour of the old fashioned store. Photos from the tour are also posted online.
Among dozens of options, long standing favorite continues to be Milk Chocolate Fudge. Other popular treats are Cashew Crunch loaded with fresh roasted cashews, Assorted Caramel Apples, and buttery smooth Vanilla Caramels. Seasonal items include Spiced Pumpkin Seed Brittle, Pumpkin Fudge, Cranberry Fudge, and Peppermint Bark. Sugar-free candy options include Chocolate Nut Fudge, Peanut Butter Cups and Salt Water Taffy.
