“In Memory of Central Park” Wins Additional Accolades with Three National Best Books 2009 Awards from USA Book News

Queenelle Minet’s First Novel Recognized for Cross Genre Fiction, Environmental/Green Fiction, and Best Website Design.

San Rafael, CA, October 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Last week, USA Book News announced that the groundbreaking first novel, “In Memory of Central Park,” (Synergy Books, ISBN 1-934454-25-1) by Queenelle Minet received three National Best Book 2009 Awards.

USA Book News recognized “In Memory of Central Park” as the winner in the categories of Fiction & Literature: Cross Genre Fiction, Fiction & Literature: Environmental/Green Fiction, and Best Website Design (www.CentralParkNovel.com). These new accolades are in addition to the three 2009 National Indie Excellence Awards “In Memory of Central Park” received earlier this year as winner in the Science Fiction category, and finalist in the categories of Best New Fiction and General Fiction. In addition, In Memory of Central Park has won the Literature for Environment (LiFE) Award.

“It’s heartening that my first literary effort continues to be recognized by such diverse and distinguished groups,” said Quenelle Minet, who is an environmental advocate and couples therapist, as well as a writer “I’m particularly gratified that my novel won awards in the cross genre fiction and environmental/green fiction categories. From a literary standpoint I think what’s unique about my book is the way it blends genres - literary novel, romance, science fiction, and environmental thriller. My most important non-literary goal was to draw attention to the need for immediate action on global warming by creating an engrossing story about real people confronting the results of our environmental sins.”

USA Book News provides coverage for books from mainstream and independent publishers to the world online community. Jeff Keen, President and CEO, noted, “The 2009 award results represent a phenomenal mix of books from a wide array of publishers throughout the United States. With a full publicity and marketing campaign promoting the results of NBBA, this year’s winners and finalists will gain additional media coverage for the upcoming holiday retail season.”

About “In Memory of Central Park”
By 2050, Manhattan has been encased in a massive terrorist-proof shell, and no one is allowed to travel in or out. Protected as well by the rising seas, New Yorkers finally feel safe, despite the fact that the Statue of Liberty has eroded to an unrecognizable stump and the once green oasis of Central Park no longer exists. The story revolves around Noah, a psychotherapist with plenty of problems of his own, including his love for his brother’s wife, Margaret. When people start dying and the Liberty Party seeks to silence anyone who speaks out, Noah must find a way to save his relationship with Margaret, as well as their lives.

“In Memory of Central Park” brings together political satire and a story of love and loneliness set against a backdrop of environmental catastrophe. Begun by her late husband Aron Spilken, Ph.D., Minet completed the novel to help her deal with the loss of her husband and as a testament to their lifelong collaboration.
