Philadelphia, PA, October 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The 2009 World Series excitement extends beyond baseball at The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) where the college is auctioning off two, game four World Series tickets. One hundred percent of the auction proceeds will go to the college’s Emergency Scholarship Fund. The three–day speed auction, hosted on eBay (Item #: 200399323333, http://bit.ly/4pRdF) ends at 10:30 pm Eastern time on Friday, October 30, and had several hundred views in the first few minutes of posting.

“With the economy, we have been struggling to maintain the levels in our scholarship fund and came up with the idea for the auction,” said John C. Strayer, President of P.I.T. “What better way to help cheer the Phillies to victory than to know you have also helped students in need.”

The P.I.T. Emergency Scholarship Fund is designed for students who encounter a crisis or urgent situation while pursuing their studies and can be used for tuition, child or dependent care or disaster relief.

“Since many of our students are working and struggling to make ends meet while pursuing their educational dreams, a personal emergency can often derail those dreams forever,” said Strayer. “The Emergency Scholarship Fund helps us keep our students on track and in school. Our goal has always been to help people help themselves through a collegiate education.”

The tickets for Sunday’s game are in Section 329, Row 3, along the third base line and provide a great view of the baseball action at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. P.I.T. has Phillies season tickets that are usually raffled off to faculty and staff for their hard work. One lucky staff or faculty member is drawn at random to receive the tickets for each game during the season. However, for the World Series, P.I.T. decided to auction the tickets off instead to help students during these tough economic times.
