Densham Motorsports (NHRA) and Kwan International Continue to Expand Upon International Efforts with Notre Dame Collaboration
Las Vegas, NV, October 31, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Densham Motorsports of the NHRA and Kwan International announce their collaboration with Notre Dame’s global effort in Bangladesh through the Bengal Bouts Boxing program, an 80-year tradition, and the new documentary, Strong Bodies Fight, by alumni filmmakers Mark Weber and William Donaruma. Reaching across global boundaries once again, Densham Motorsports’ Gary Densham and Kwan International’s Christina Kwan expand upon their foundation of building international awareness for both the sport of Nitro Drag racing and their deep-rooted passion for fundamental education.
Strong Bodies Fight is premiering on November 6th at the University of Notre Dame. Depicting a rich history of the Notre Dame Boxing Team’s efforts in raising money for the education system of Bangladesh, the Bengal Bouts, founded by legendary football coach Knute Rockne, is a traditional annual event where the dedicated student boxers of Notre Dame train to compete against one another in a fundraising competition. In the documentary, the filmmakers document the experience of five boxers who embarked on a journey across the world to witness the fruits of eight decades of dedication. “Where they had expected to find weakness, they instead discovered strength; where they thought they would find despair, they instead saw great resolve. We witnessed a world that is seldom seen in the films or media – a world of hope,” relays Weber.
Densham and Kwan have extensively reached across borders this year – yet always communicating a cohesive message – that we are internationally together, one world, where our education is the foundation for the advancements of tomorrow. “With understanding and sharing our culture and passions with others, we gain a new perspective,” says Kwan. “In creating a new awareness for international causes, we hope to inspire others to empower themselves to make a difference,” continues Kwan who is bound to the education effort in more than one way. She is also a former U.S. National and World Amateur Champion in boxing.
Densham, who dedicated 30 years as a high school teacher, finds driving his 8,000 horsepower drag car analogous to the message behind Strong Bodies Fight. “It’s the drive. It’s our perseverance and it’s our goal to inspire others.” At 63, Densham, a former champion wrestler, continues to keep a healthful body and a sharp mind. Densham continues, “This collaboration is about education. Although I’ve retired from teaching, I still thoroughly enjoy working alongside the students of today and sending out a message that knowledge is empowerment.”
Together, Densham, Kwan, and Strong Bodies Fight have created a team effort that is unparalleled today – crossing over from physical sports to motorsports while continuing to deliver an international message that motivates others to become not only aware of the world around us, but to proactively make a difference in the availability of educational resources.
