FireGrantsHelp.com Assists Bristol (Oh.) Fire Department in Winning $2.2 Million Grant for Fire Station Construction

FireGrantsHelp.com helped the Bristol, Oh. Fire Department secure a $2.2 million grant for the construction of a new fire station.

San Francisco, CA, October 31, 2009 --(PR.com)-- FireGrantsHelp.com, the leading online grant information and assistance resource for the fire service, announced it has helped the Bristol, Oh. Fire Department secure a $2.2 million grant for the construction of a new fire station.

The grant was awarded as part of the Fire Station Construction Grants (SCG) program, administered by Department of Homeland Security. The program provides financial assistance directly to fire departments on a competitive basis to build new or modify existing fire stations, helping departments to enhance their response capabilities and protect the communities they serve from fire and fire-related hazards.

The 63-year-old fire station in Bristol had a multitude of identified problems, including critical deficiencies that were posing significant health and safety concerns. The station also lacked appropriate and code compliant restroom/shower facilities, had inadequate equipment and apparatus storage space, and offered subpar crew amenities, including sleeping quarters and training facilities. With these deficiencies, the condition of the facility was threatening the department’s ability to provide adequate services to their surrounding community.

Bristol identified a need for outside grant assistance once the guidance for the Station Construction Grant was announced in late May 2009. Seeking help with preparation of their grant application, a department representative submitted an online direct assistance request on FireGrantsHelp.com.

Upon receiving the request, FireGrantsHelp experts determined Bristol was a strong candidate for funding, and worked closely with the department to collect all relevant data for the grant application. Through a collaborative partnership and sharing of information, FireGrantsHelp was able to guide Bristol through the full application process while at the same time preparing a high quality narrative for submission.

"Based on the materials I submitted regarding our grant needs, FireGrantsHelp staff was able to assist me with the proper writing technique needed to prepare the grant,” said Steve Craiger, Assistant Chief at Bristol Fire Department. “I appreciate everything FireGrantsHelp did for our department and we look forward to moving into our new home.”

“We were excited to be able to assist Bristol F.D. in obtaining funding for a new fire station, giving them a modern facility to help them do their jobs safely and effectively for many years to come,” said Sarah Wilson, Grants Manager for FireGrantsHelp.com. “Grants are a hugely important component of fire department funding, and we are proud to support the fire service by serving as a critical resource to departments across the country seeking guidance and advice.”

In addition to comprehensive grant news and information, FireGrantsHelp offers fire and EMS departments a range of grant services, including customized grant research, writing and reviews to ensure that the department’s grant submissions are optimized for success.

In 2009 alone, FireGrantsHelp has helped over 2,000 departments locate funding for various grant projects, totaling more than $3.5 million in funding.
