Triangle Segway Announces New Oakwood Holiday Glide
The holiday-themed three-hour Segway tour explores Raleigh's Historic Oakwood on Segways and includes a walk inside many of the district's preserved 19th-century homes. This special Segway event is offered December 12 and 13 only.
Raleigh, NC, November 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Fresh for the holidays, Triangle Segway has just unveiled its newest tour, the Oakwood Holiday Glide. This special three-hour event, which is a combined Segway glide and holiday home tour, will take place December 12 and 13. Two tours will be offered on each day at 12:30 pm and 4 pm. Spaces are limited and advance booking is required.
Triangle Segway’s Oakwood Holiday Glide will explore the highlights of Oakwood, a 19th-century downtown neighborhood -- Raleigh's first true "suburb"-- filled with lovingly restored period homes. On the Oakwood Holiday Glide, guests can cover much more of the area than by walking, and will hear interesting facts and stories about Raleigh by a knowledgeable Triangle Segway tour guide.
As a special feature of this three-hour tour, guests can also walk inside many of Oakwood’s homes, which are personal residences that will be richly decorated for the season with Christmas trees and Victorian-style frills. These featured homes, part of the neighborhood's annual Candlelight Tour, are widely scattered throughout the historic district. On the Segway tour, guests can cover much more ground than on foot as they glide house to house on Segways.
“No matter how many times you may have walked or driven through Oakwood, you’ll be seeing it in a whole new way as you glide it on a Segway,” says Todd Masinter, who along with his wife, Sandy, owns Triangle Segway.
“The tour will highlight the history and architecture of Historic Oakwood,” says Masinter. “Our guests will wear a wireless earpiece that makes it easy to hear the guide give his live narration all along the route.”
No Segway experience is necessary. Triangle Segway will train all participants. Segways balance themselves and are easy to learn how to ride. Guests must be at least 16 years old and weigh between 100 and 260 pounds.
Advance purchase is necessary. Tickets are $75 per person and include a Candlelight Tour ticket with purchase. Call Triangle Segway directly at 919-828-1988 to book your spot. Spaces are limited. For more information, visit the Triangle Segway website: www.trianglesegway.com. Segway tour gift cards are also available for this or any Triangle Segway tour. Segway tours make unique gifts for the holidays.
Triangle Segway is the only authorized Segway dealer and Segway tour operator in the Triangle region. The Raleigh showroom offers the latest i2 and x2 models and Segway accessories.
