Direct Marketing Association of Long Island Announces 2009 Hall of Fame Inductees

Prestigious Award Presented to Three Leaders in the Direct Marketing Industry

Hauppauge, NY, November 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Scott Fenwick served as the Master of Ceremonies at a luncheon held at the Smithtown Sheraton by the Direct Marketing Association of Long Island (DMALI) as they honored their latest inductees to the 2009 Hall of Fame; Markus Wilhelm, Hank Rossi and Stuart Boysen. Each individual has made a significant contribution to the direct marketing industry.

“DMALI is very proud to induct these individuals into the 2009 Hall of Fame,” said John Mackie, President of DMALI. “They have brought passion, commitment and integrity to the marketing industry and serve as role models for all marketing professionals,” said Mackie.

Inductees:

Markus Wilhelm
An accomplished CEO of AKS Marketing & Media, a Direct Marketing Consulting Agency that provides both strategic and operational consulting to its many clients, as well as serving as Chairman of Solar Tech South, a newly founded solar energy distribution company located in the Raleigh-Durham Research Triangle, Markus has pursued his lifelong interest in the outdoors and environmental causes by recently founding Hampton Green Homes, a cutting-edge, green-technology builder for high end homes in North Carolina and the surrounding area.

Previously, Markus serve as the CEO of Bookspan, a Bertelsmann-Time Warner partnership. He was also the CEO of Doubleday Direct and In the USA he oversaw the management and growth strategy of more than 40 consumer and professional Book Clubs, the development of a newly formed publishing business, and the launch of a service company for direct marketing.

Past accomplishments include; serving as a board member in several start-up companies as well as a member and ultimately Chair of the Board of the Direct Marketing Association. He is also a member of the DMA Executive Committee and a member of the Board of the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation. He has received several notable awards throughout his career.

In accepting his award, Markus acknowledged the many facets of marketing including electronic media but indicated that direct marketing remains one of the most effective ways to promote products and services.

Hank Rossi
Hank is the Owner of Eastern Collection Corp, ECC Profit Improvement Services, Inc. and Profit Improvement Concepts, Ltd. Past experience includes working in customer service and credit & collections and operations management. He held positions at; McGraw-Hill, Grolier Enterprises, Diners Club and Hyaid, a fulfillment service bureau where he was Executive Vice President until he began forming his own companies over 25 years ago.

After working as a consultant at America Online for five years where he developed all of their initial credit strategies, he was offered and accepted the position of Vice President of Marketing Operations. Finishing his career at AOL in 2005, Hank opened Profit Improvement Concepts, Ltd. and resumed his consulting career.

Hank’s career includes teaching various seminars and holding various Chairmanships for the Direct Marketing Association. He was also past president of the Greater Long Island Postal Customer Council, the Long Island Direct Marketing Association and served on the Board of the Long Island Better Business Bureau for over five years.

He has received several awards and has been inducted into the Long Island Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame. “Only in America, folks, would a concept called direct marketing become what it is today because it is color blind and gender neutral and measures people by their accomplishments and not how they look or where they come from…”, said Hank.

Stuart Boysen
Stuart began his direct marketing career when he joined Hoke Communications, Inc. in 1978 to computerize the company. By 1982, the entire publishing operation from editorial and advertising to database and ancillary sales of books and cassettes were online, all running off a single computer network. He oversaw expansion of the system to handle club and conference administration. The Direct Marketing Club of New York honored him with its Silver Apple Award in 1997. He is also a past president of the Fulfillment Management Association.

Stu is currently Executive Director for the Direct Marketing Club of New York. Prior to that, he was an Advisor to the Board with responsibility for database, registration and administration. He also serves as Exhibits Chair for Fund Raising Day in New York.

During Stuart’s acceptance of his award, he indicated that successful marketing efforts drive the consumer to make decisions but we must remain mindful that quality customer service continues to play a key role in each corporation’s success and growth.
