Virto Active Directory User Service 2.0 for SharePoint by Virtosoftware: New Version of a Web Part for Managing Active Directory User Profiles
Virtosoftware has released a new version of its web part for Microsoft SharePoint 2007 — Virto Active Directory User Service that enables managing Active Directory user profiles via SharePoint interface.

The first version of the web part that was released in August 2009 allowed authorized SharePoint users to manage their own AD profiles. With Virto Active Directory User Service a user could easily change information on his mobile phone number, date of birth or any other parameter of his profile without contacting system administrator.
The new version allows users to manage not only their own AD profiles, but also profiles of other users if there are enough access rights. The rights are set by SharePoint administrator in the web part settings: he can define SharePoint user groups that will have rights to access and edit profile information of other users as well as define a subset of profile fields that can be edited. With Virto Active Directory User Service you can, for example, allow HR manager to edit a user’s profile data related to his position, but prevent him from editing personal information.
Virto Active Directory User Service 2.0 is also designed to provide users with more convenient work with AD profiles. Improved search over profiles, opportunities to sort profiles by alphabet and to group profile parameters by categories (personal information, position data, contact information, etc.) are aimed to contribute to effective managing Active Directory user profiles.
