The LPQ & LPC Certifications Receive Academic Credit for Bachelor’s Degree

Fairleigh Dickinson University approves credit hours for LPQ & LPC – no fee required.

Charlotte, NC, November 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Loss Prevention Foundation’s LPQualified (LPQ) and LPCertified (LPC) certifications are now eligible for Bachelor degree credits at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), New Jersey’s largest privately held university. The Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies at FDU will accept three credit hours for the LPQ and six credit hours for the LPC towards a Bachelor’s degree. FDU will post these credits in the same manner as transfer credits, which means no fee required.

“The arrangement with FDU is another tangible step of progress toward the Foundation’s mission of providing educational resources to further both the professional and the loss prevention profession,” said Frank Johns, chairman of the Foundation and senior vice president Internal Audit, Asset Protection, Ethics and Compliance of A.C. Moore. “Completing certifications and enrolling in college courses is a must for those executives seriously interested in furthering their careers.”

“FDU found the Foundation’s certifications to be an outstanding representation of quality educational content,” said Thomas Swanzey, associate dean, Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies at FDU. “Our relationship with the Foundation is an ideal complement to our mission of serving ‘life-long learners.’ Teaming up with such a well-rounded certification program such as the LPQ and LPC definitely serves both the retail loss prevention industry and the academic community. We look forward to assisting LP professionals with their continuing educational needs in many of our academic offerings.”

“Our goal has been to make it easier for industry professionals to add to their academic credentials, finish degrees and to enhance their knowledge. This is another validation of the quality of our certification programs produced by over 200 LP professionals and 80 retailers,” said Gene Smith, president of the Foundation. “The Foundation has been actively working with multiple academic institutions to provide these types of opportunities for our industry. With these results, it is easy to see how important, yet simple, it is to invest in individual career growth. Our certifications are easy steps in gaining knowledge and adding to educational credentials.”

The Foundation is gaining momentum for it academic initiative as this announcement comes on the heels of the recently signed memorandum of agreement with Eastern Kentucky University. LPQ and LPC certified professionals can use their certifications towards Master’s degree credit in the Safety, Security & Emergency Management degree.

The LPQualified (LPQ) certification is designed to be a benchmark educational program for both entry level and individuals already within the profession, while the LPCertified (LPC) is designed as advanced education for loss prevention professionals interested in career advancement.
