The Village of Greenport Gets in the Holiday Spirit – in an Effort to Lure Shoppers to Their Historic Maritime Hamlet
It’s been a dismal year for anyone in retail. The ‘Mom and Pop’ stores are truly suffering, as people storm towards the big box stores in search of ‘a deal.’ This year, the Villagers of Greenport have joined together in an effort to lure shopper to their town by hosting the 1st Greenport Holiday Festival.
New York, NY, November 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- It’s all happening in beautiful historic Greenport. Four weekends are packed with festive activities guaranteed to get everyone in the Holiday Spirit. Highlights of the Festival include a Holiday Pet Parade in costume, a Tree Lighting Ceremony with a joyous musical program, a Children’s Winter Games Competition in Mitchell Park and a Parade for Santa & Mrs. Claus with Bag Pipes from all over the region. There is a Maritime film festival, an historic House tour, a Gallery Walk, Holiday Theater, music concerts and more.
Awards will be given to the Best Decorated store windows and for the Best Decorated Holiday Trees.
Carolers and Musicians will herald shoppers with song.
The Villagers of Greenport have joined hands in creating a fun-filled atmosphere so both locals and folks from out-of-town can enjoy fantastic shopping and dining, while strolling the delightful & whimsically decorated streets of town.
All the Villagers are involved and all are volunteers.
Greenport, an Historic Fishing Village, is located on the North Fork of Long Island on the beautiful Peconic Bay.
