National Organization Invites Interested Women Presidents of Multimillion-Dollar Corporations to Reception
Greensboro, NC, October 02, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO) along with Wachovia and Time Warner Cable, will hold a Greensboro/Winston Salem chapter kickoff reception on Thursday, October 12 at the Greensboro Country Club, located at 410 Sunset Drive from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for multimillion dollar women owned and women led companies. WPO is a nonprofit membership organization for a diverse group of women presidents who have guided their businesses to at least $2 million in gross annual sales (or $1 million for a service-based business). Marsha Firestone Ph.D., WPO founder and president and Mary Cantando, chapter facilitator and member of the WPO board of directors will be in attendance. All interested women presidents who qualify are invited to attend the reception. Call Mary Cantando at 919-841-0401 or e-mail her at mary@womanbusinessowner.com to receive an invitation or further information.
The launch of a new Greensboro/Winston Salem chapter is indicative of the remarkable growth that women-owned businesses are experiencing not only in the Triad, but across the country. As of 2004, there are an estimated 31,494 privately held, women-owned firms in Greensboro, accounting for 28% of all privately held firms in the metropolitan area, generating $12 billion in sales and employing 96,789 people.
“The Raleigh/Durham WPO chapter has been such a success, we are excited to expand our membership to the women presidents of the Triad area,” said Mary Cantando, chapter facilitator and member of WPO national board. “Our members are influential, powerful women who contribute significantly to the U.S. economy,” said Dr. Marsha Firestone, president and founder of the Women Presidents’ Organization.
