Electric Guitarists Offered New Diploma Qualifications from RGT
The Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) has launched a range of electric guitar Performance Diplomas specifically for rock, pop and blues guitarists. The Performance Diplomas provide a structured programme that will take guitarists’ playing skills from Grade 8 standard to that of a top-level performer or session musician.

The Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) has launched a range of electric guitar Performance Diplomas specifically for rock, pop and blues guitarists. The Performance Diplomas provide a structured programme that will take guitarists’ playing skills from Grade 8 standard to that of a top-level performer or session musician, providing electric guitarists with a great motivational tool to develop their playing to its full potential.
The new RGT Diplomas are organised in partnership with London College of Music Exams and are fully accredited by Ofqual and Thames Valley University. Four Diploma levels are available: DipLCM, ALCM, LLCM and FLCM (equivalent to Masters Degree level on the National Qualifications Framework). Those passing each Diploma will be legally entitled to append the appropriate letters to their name.
The RGT Diplomas focus on the skills needed by electric guitarists in the fields of rock, blues and popular music. The exam content includes technique studies, rhythm and lead playing (including performances of classic tracks by guitarists such as David Gilmour, Joe Satriani, Carlos Santana, Steve Vai, Gary Moore and Peter Green).
