Hunger on Rise in Henry: Local Church Responds

McDonough, GA, November 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The US Census Bureau’s 2008 American Community Survey shows 5,089 households receiving food assistance in Henry County. 75% of these families had children under 18. The recession has increased the number of families needing support this season. In response, Tabernacle of Praise Church International (TOPCI) will provide over 200 families and individuals with hot meals and food baskets on November 27th, 2009 at the local DFCS office. The office location is 125 Henry Parkway, McDonough GA 30253.

A traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner, trimmings and desert will begin at 12:00 noon. Take away food baskets will include enough non perishable items that can provide meals for a week. The ministry is seeking donations of non perishable food items, flatware, plastic cups, Styrofoam serving ware and monetary gifts are also greatly encouraged. TOPCI is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.

Tabernacle of Praise Church International is located at 96 Zack Hinton Pkwy, McDonough GA led by Pastors TJ and Shunnae McBride. Organization of the Outreach Ministry is coordinated by Antoinette Milton.

The church has been in operation for 4 years and is driven in their outreach efforts by a vision to “Be a vehicle that God uses to spark revival in our homes, communities, counties and state.” Their commitment to this vision drives this their 2nd year of organizing this event. This event will be free to the families. Participants are encouraged to call or register by email with Antoinette Milton.

This event will feed deserving families, give them assistance in upcoming weeks and provide an opportunity for them to be ministered to during a difficult time. Tabernacle of Praise International is demonstrating that the love of God really occurs at the point of a community’s need.
