Fragile Nepal | Special Event at ZSL London Zoo
The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is hosting a very special one-off evening event, Fragile Nepal, at ZSL London Zoo on Tuesday 24th November to mark the 2009 year of Nepal Nature Conservation.
London, England, United Kingdom, November 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Fragile Nepal will be a celebration of the rich and varied Nepali culture, combined with a bid to raise awareness of the ominous situation Nepal currently faces. The night will include a drinks reception, a buffet dinner, and traditional Nepali entertainment.
For guests wanting a special souvenir from the night, there will be the chance to bid on some truly exclusive goods in a silent auction. With a selection of items including money-can’t-buy experiences at ZSL London Zoo and a holiday to Nepal, there’s something worth bidding on for everyone.
Working with the Government of Nepal and the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), ZSL is hoping to raise awareness of the plight of Asia’s poorest yet most naturally diverse region. With guests including Ministers of Nepal, the evening promises to be an eye opener for all who attend.
The breathtaking Himalayas and floodplains of Nepal are facing severe threats from global warming. Poaching remains a constant threat due to increasing demand for wildlife products in China and many of Nepal’s native animals are facing the threat of extinction.
There are still a few places left for the Fragile Nepal event, for more information and to buy your ticket please visit www.zsl.org/Fragile_Nepal
The survival of species such as the greater one horned rhino and the snow leopard depends on organisations such as ZSL finding ways to help humans live in harmony with nature. ZSL currently runs conservation projects to help these species in Nepal, and maintains a successful captive breeding programme for greater one horned rhinos at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.
2009 was named Nepal Nature Conservation Year in a bid to highlight the work, and funds, needed to protect and preserve the spectacular environment, and the animals and their habitats within it.
Founded in 1826, the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is an international scientific, conservation and educational charity: our key role is the conservation of animals and their habitats. The Society runs ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, carries out scientific research at the Institute of Zoology and is actively involved in field conservation overseas.
