Volusia Manufacturers Association Charter Directors Recognized by Volusia County Council at VMA 29th Annual Awards Banquet
Volusia Manufacturing Association’s Founding Members Joseph Scott and Lou Fifer were recognized by Volusia County Council for outstanding contributions to Volusia County, Florida.
Ormond Beach, FL, November 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Volusia Manufacturers Association (VMA), the only manufacturing association created by manufacturers for creating unity in manufacturing in Volusia and Flagler Counties, held its 29th Annual Awards Banquet on October 22, 2009, honoring its Manufacturing and Associate Members for excellence in manufacturing achievements. It was a magnificent event with over 150 members in attendance, all paying honor and respect to those members who have contributed greatly over the past years.
Making the event more exceptional was the unexpected recognition from the Volusia County Council for two founding members! Frank Bruno, County Chair of Volusia County Council, attended the event and made proclamations for Joseph N. Scott and the late Louis J. Fifer.
Joseph N. Scott was recognized for his contributions to Volusia County Manufacturing. Mr. Scott is the founder of the Volusia Manufacturers Association and had the original idea that there needed to be a singular voice for manufacturers in Volusia County back in 1980. For the VMA, Mr. Scott was one of the first Charter Directors who started the VMA, and in 1980 he served as the First Acting Chair. Mr. Scott was also presented the VMA’s “Manny” Award for his life-long contributions in manufacturing in Volusia and Flagler Counties and to the VMA.
Louis J. Fifer was the founding President and CEO of the Volusia Manufacturers Association. He lead the VMA for 25 years and will always be remembered for creating the network for Volusia and Flagler County Manufacturers, uniting them to work together to support each other for success. He passed away in August this year after having a massive stroke in 2006.
October 22, 2009 was declared by Volusia County Council as both “Joe Scott Day” and “Lou Fifer Day” honoring both men’s dedication and contributions to manufacturing in Volusia County. Volusia Manufacturers Association President, Jayne Fifer, says, “The recognition from the Volusia County Council was well-deserved for these two men. Both have contributed significantly to improving the community in Volusia and Flagler Counties through uniting local manufacturers for strength and success.”
