Bedford, United Kingdom, October 04, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Friday 29th September saw the presentation of the Best Factory Awards at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel in London.
400 guests, including representatives from all the shortlisted companies, were present, and Malcolm Jones, director of Productivity Europe, presented the People Management Awards, which recognise the importance of employee involvement in world class manufacturing.
Highly commended in this category were Maier UK, a first and second tier automotive supplier, producing injection moulded parts for Toyota, Nissan and Honda among other customers. The Best Factory judges were most impressed by the levels of empowerment and communication which they perceived on their audit visit.
Winners however were Dormer Tools, Worksop, producing their trademark drills. Dormer were also winners of the Most Improved Plant Award and Highly Commended in the Engineering Plant category. What impressed the judges were the levels of teamwork, training and communication throughout the plant.
Commenting on their sponsorship of the People Management Award, Productivity’s Malcolm Jones said:
“As external facilitators we engage people in process improvement activities, but it is the internal people management processes which sustain these activities and develop a continuous improvement culture. The Best Factory People Management Award recognises this, which is why we will take great pleasure in presenting this year’s award.”
