Canton Area Churches Trade Worship Space in Building Swap; Faith Bible Church and Cross Pointe Church Swap Spaces
Canton, OH, November 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Amidst a slumping economy, two Canton congregations, Faith Bible Church and Cross Pointe Church, have agreed to trade worship spaces in what Faith Bible Pastor-Teacher Ray Russ calls a “win-win situation.”
Faith Bible Church, currently located at 5715 Market Ave N, will relocate to Cross Pointe Church a 36,000-square-foot facility on 10 acres located at 6655 Firestone Rd NE. Cross Pointe will, in turn, move into Faith Bible’s 12,000-square-foot structure.
The churches will hold services in their new locations on November 22. Faith Bible plans to have a grand opening service on December 6.
“We felt like maybe it was an opportunity for us. They had need of land and a larger building, and we needed to downsize,” said Cross Pointe Pastor, Troy Haynam.
“A win-win situation,” said Pastor Russ. Faith Bible has been outgrowing its current space, but has been hesitant to sink millions of dollars into a physical structure, when according to Pastor Russ that money could be better spent on ministry and missionary work.
“When we looked into adding onto our current facility and found out that it could cost well over $100 a square foot, we wondered if there was an alternative to spending that kind of money,” said Pastor Russ.
“It was our desire to not go into debt,” he said. “We’d rather put the money into missions, ministry and people, and by trading buildings with Cross Pointe we are able to do just that.”
In addition to trading buildings, Faith Bible will pay Cross Pointe an undisclosed amount in the form of a five-year no-interest loan.
“We look forward to the opportunities that God will provide through the use of this new facility,” said Russ. “We are a blessed congregation to have such an opportunity.”
