Kameil Madison Delivers Today's Special
Up and coming female hip-hop artist Kameil Madison is set to spread her wings after having garnered national attention with songs on Lifetime and F/X networks, as well as the Wayans' Brothers movie, White Chicks.
Detroit, MI, October 05, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Michigan-based female lyricist Kameil Madison is set to go beyond the norm for independent artists. Already having garnered exposure from her song “Fresh Ya Body” being placed in Dove’s national ad campaign for their Cool Moisture Bar and Body Wash, Kameil is ready for more. Her most recent placement, however, is not the first time this rising star’s talent has attracted and received national recognition. Earlier on, “Ooh Ah” appeared in the Wayans Brothers’ smash hit “White Chicks,” and her music has also been featured on Lifetime network's original movie "Sex and a Single Mom" and FX network's "The Shield."
This up and coming lyricist already has a strong fan base in her hometown and is now set to embark upon a statewide media blitz. Ms. Madison's sophomore LP, “Today’s Special,” was released on September 16th. The first single off the album, “Bounce Like This,” delivers a hard-hitting bass line and her vocal delivery is on point. It is sure to be a crowd pleaser for the clubs and a good fit for mainstream urban radio, especially with the current dance trends. The album will be available for purchase online and at select retailers TBA.
“Today’s Special” is not your typical “sex sells” or “I’m hardcore” themed body of work, yet it’s a breath of fresh air and offers more female-empowering titles such as “Wifey Material” and “What They Hittin Foe.” Kameil is confident that whoever purchases this album will like what they hear and will even refer others.
Numbers from hand-to-hand CD and Internet sales of Kameil’s first release, “Unlady-Like,” are indicative of her imminent success. “Along with even more growth and development, I’m anticipating this sophomore album to do even better,” she says. “I am constantly on the grind, this is a 24/7 thing for me. Wherever I am, whatever I’m doing, I’m pushing my upcoming album and myself as an artist. I even invested in a wrapped promotional vehicle for this project. I’m a rolling advertisement,” she continues. Her longtime friend and in-house producer DX the Flex says, “Kameil definitely has the looks, the attitude and the skills to make it happen.”
Because Kameil believes in herself and her ability to rise to the top at whatever she does, she is setting herself up to garner even more local attention, and the regional and national attention she deserves. She offers, “I don’t want to be the average artist that bubbles under the surface for years without making it. I believe in investing in myself and doing whatever it takes within reason to make it to the top.”
About Kameil Madison
Kameil Madison, formerly known as Dream, began her musical journey at the age of 14. Visiting nearby recording studio, House Of Treez, she met longtime producer and friend, DX The Flex. Growing up and listening to the likes of Stephanie Mills and Gladys Knight, Kameil was overcome by the huge insurgence of the hip hop culture and began listening to lyricists such as Notorious B.I.G., Lil Kim, Missy Elliott and Foxy Brown. Although Kameil originally wanted to become a singer, she later found her niche in the hip-hop genre. Kameil eventually started mixing rap into her R&B songs until one day discovering she had a lot more rap and a lot less R&B. She is in love with hip-hop and it is a genre that fits her perfectly.
