Fiamme Restaurant & Bar Hosts Meathead Movers’ “Girls' Night Out;” Raises $7,000 for Ventura County’s United Women’s Leadership Council

Part of Fiamme’s Fire Up the Community effort to help charities in tough times, Girls Night Out raises funds to inspire, educate and engage women in philanthropy and community service.

Thousand Oaks, CA, November 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- More than 15 tuxedo-clad men converged on Fiamme Restaurant and Bar in Thousand Oaks this week to host and serve nearly 110 patrons during Meathead Movers’ Girls Night Out , one of Fiamme’s “Fire Up The Community!” events. The event raised more than $7,000 for the United Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way of Ventura County (UWLC).

“I believe last night was the best Girls’ Night Out of the seven we’ve put on in the past three years,” said Aaron B. Steed, President, CEO of Meathead Movers. “I received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback and I don’t recall a single lady (or Meathead) not grinning for the entire evening.”

For one night only, employees of Meathead Movers replaced their moving boxes with martinis to benefit the United Women’s Leadership Council, a group of individuals who are committed to improving people’s lives and creating lasting change. Formed in 2007, the UWLC inspires, celebrates, educates, and engages women in philanthropy and community service to help empower female foster youth in Ventura County to be self-sufficient and stable enough to function independently once they leave the foster care system.

“We are proud to work with United Way and Meathead Movers to help raise money for such a meaningful local cause. Especially in these times, we feel it is important to find a way to give back to the community for those who need it most,” said Liz Beddow, proprietor of Fiamme. “When women leaders join together, our voices, vision and leadership have phenomenal impact.”

Donations can be made to the United Women's Leadership Council. Please contact Amy L. Fonzo Vice President, Resource Development, United Way of Ventura County, at AFonzo@vcunitedway.org or (805) 485-6288 ext. 230.

The “Fire Up The Community” program was started by Fiamme proprietors Liz Beddow and Jerry White to support non-profit organizations throughout the area with their fundraising efforts. To date, the popular restaurant and music venue has helped raise urgently needed funds for local groups including Agoura High School Charger Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Ventura, the Dignity® Memorial Vietnam Wall, the Lilly of the Valley AIDS Organization Mission (Love Fest), the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic, and United Way of Ventura County among others.
