Stanton James Adds Designer, Anita Arze
Stanton James is pleased to announce the addition of Anita Arze to its wide array of up & coming, fashion-forward designers. Featured in such publications as Apparel News, Anita Arze brings a exotic touch to StantonJames.com.
Beverly Hills, CA, November 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Launched in March 2009, Stanton James.com has quickly evolved into one of the most well-known and respected retailers for up & coming designers. Recognized in countless magazines and blogs, StantonJames.com has positioned itself as the premiere locale for finding the widest array of clothing, accessories, shoes and bags from emerging talent.
New to their line up of over 45 designers is Ampersand Designs. Anita Arze dug into her cultural roots and drew upon the handcraftsmanship of Bolivian knitting for the basis of her eponymous line of wraps, ponchos and coverups. When she decided to launch her line she knew that she wanted to access all the craft available where her parents grew up. Arze borrows the knit patterns seen in colorful traditional South American ponchos and wraps, which are usually covered in embroidery and trimmed in macrame and fringe. She interprets the knit techniques into "modern and simple" styles.
For the debut collection of Fall 2008, Anita Arze offered a small collection of alpaca wool cover-up ponchos, wraps/shawls and capes knit on a hand loom in Bolivia. These pieces are classic, clean and modern. The idea being that one has a couple of cover-ups that are easy, like blankets, but also very chic.
The Spring 2009 and is an expansion of the cover-ups with the addition of Peruvian Pima cotton hand-crocheted vests, hand knit sweaters and cardigans, and hand-crochet knit dresses. Fall / Winter 2009 is an even deeper build upon of the first collection of alpaca wraps. She moves into sweaters, dresses and basics in alpaca silk to play on the theme of layering.
The aim of Anita Arze is to specialize in conscious clothing with a mission to drive sustainable employment in developing economies. Anita Arze was born in NYC and raised in Los Angeles with long, extended vists to Bolivia as a child and teen. She studied art at Parsons School of Design in NYC and graduated with a BFA in 1990.
StantonJames.com co-founder, Brooke Price says "all of our designers offer something special and that is so the case with Anita Arze. Not only does she create some of the most amazing, high quality pieces but she is extremely socially responsible. We love having someone like her on our team" Anita Arze will will join designers such as Brigid Catiis, Hellz Bellz, Aaron Ashe, Mink Pink, Miss Wax, Elaine Kim, Suzabelle and many more. With Stanton James.com's emphasis on emerging talent they have created an environment unlike any other as many of their designers are not carried in many locales. Brooke Price, founder and owner of Stanton James.com "We wanted to create something that the hipster, chic customer wanted to wear. We cater to the girl that everyone looks to for style advice, we pride ourselves on not carrying things you will find at traditional mall stores."
Stanton James.com will introduce the Anita Arze's line starting in November 2009.
