The UOC - Open University of Catalonia - The Global Online University - The UOC Organizes a Get-Together for More Than 2.400 Postgraduate Students
On Saturday, the 7th of November, the first get-together of the new academic year took place for over 2,400 students of the UOC's International Graduate Institute, held at the Geography and History Department of the UB (c-Montalegre, 6). Throughout the morning, the students in the masters, postgraduate and specialization programmes and their professors and tutors had the opportunity to participate in different talks and program activities.
Barcelona, Spain, November 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The get-together was organized by the UOC International Graduate Institute and offers students, faculty, teaching collaborators and the other members of the university community the chance to meet up.
The main talk by Jesús Contreras, entitled "New Challenges for Thinking about the Multidisciplinary Relationships between Food and Culture", took place between 11.30am and 1pm. There were a number of parallel sessions between 9.30am and 11am: "Logistics: Theory and Practice" (Economics and Business Studies) by José López Parada; "The New CIO: A Permanent Beta-Version Professional" (IT, Multimedia and Telecommunications), by Dídac López; "The Evolution of Flu Viruses, and Measures of Prevention and Control" (Health Sciences), by Andreu Segura Benedicto, and "The Library Helps You Learn" (Humanities) by Beatriz Benítez.
All these talks were open to anyone interested.
Likewise, there were internal sessions for IGI students from 1pm to 2pm for each of the International Graduate Institute’s knowledge areas: Art, Culture and Society; Health Sciences; Information and Communication; Humanitarian Cooperation, Peace and Sustainability; Law and Political Sciences; Economics and Business Studies; City Management; Global Executive Education; IT, Multimedia and Telecommunications; and Language, Linguistics and Translation.
