Trinity Academy of Raleigh Students Among Top One Percent of High School Juniors Nationwide
Raleigh, NC, November 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Robert Littlejohn, head of school at Trinity Academy of Raleigh (www.trinityacademy.com), a preK-12 college preparatory school community located in North Raleigh, has announced that two students, Nathan Jones and Stephen West, have qualified as semifinalists in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program. In 2008, more than 1.5 million high school juniors took the PSAT/NMSQT; out of those students, only 16 thousand were chosen as semifinalists. Semifinalists are the highest scoring entrants from their state. To become finalists students must, in their final year of school, meet high academic standards as well as earn a SAT score that confirms their 2008 PSAT/NMSQT score.
Quotes:
“I am proud of both Nathan and Stephen for their hard work,” said Littlejohn. “It is exciting to have not one but two of our students in the top one percent of the nation’s high school juniors. I look forward to their continued success at Trinity and beyond.”
Details:
- Fifteen thousand students will be notified in February 2010 that they have advanced to finalist standing.
- Merit Scholarship winners are chosen from the finalist group, based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments, which will include the finalist's academic record, information about the school's curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, school official's written recommendation, information about the student's activities and leadership, and an essay written by the finalist.
- Trinity Academy of Raleigh currently enrolls 312 students.
