The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura Presents "Frankly Speaking About Colorectal Cancer" Dec. 19

Chatsworth, CA, November 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura will host a free workshop for people affected by cancer entitled: Frankly Speaking About Colorectal Cancer with Heinz-Josef Lenz, MD, FACP. The program will explore colorectal cancer treatment, side-effect management and psychosocial aspects of the illness. This free workshop takes place on Saturday, December 19, from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jennifer Diamond Cancer Foundation, 9410 Owensmouth Ave, Chatsworth. “People living with cancer and their loved ones want to know about the most recent advances in cancer research so that they can identify their best treatment options,” said Marty Nason, RN, MN, vice president of programs and services at The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura. “By taking an active role in their treatment decisions, people with cancer can improve their quality of life and may also enhance their possibility of recovery.”

Dr. Lenz is Professor of Medicine and Professor of Preventive Medicine in the Division of Medical Oncology at Keck School of Medicine at USC. He is Co-director of both the Colorectal Center and the GI Oncology Program at USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles. Frankly Speaking About Colorectal Cancer is part of the Frankly Speaking About Cancer series, a collection of cancer-related programs created by The Wellness Community. Frankly Speaking About Colorectal Cancer was created in partnership with the Colorectal Cancer Coalition and is made possible through a charitable contribution from AstraZeneca.
