ROAM Data Closes $8.5 Million in Series B Funding from Eminent Strategic and Private Investors
Boston, MA, November 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- ROAM Data, Inc. a Boston-based Mobile Application Service Provider (MASP). This investment was lead by the $6.5 million from Ingenico Ventures, the investment vehicle of Ingenico SAS, the world leader in payment and Point of Sale (POS) solutions. Other prominent private investors in the round also include payment industry icon George Wallner, founder and former CEO of Hypercom.

“We are tremendously honored to have such investors from the payment industry endorse ROAM, it is a testament to our technology innovation and our value proposition,” Commented Will Graylin, Chairman and CEO of ROAM Data. “Our mobile commerce services are now being launched by payment processing giants like Chase Paymentech, and are supported on every major mobile carrier in the United States including Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile.”

ROAM’s patented and PCI certified technology enables it to be the only provider to dynamically deliver rich commerce applications to service end-users on their own mobile phones - from smart phones like the iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Android, to feature phones from Nokia, Samsung, LG, Motorola and others running J2ME and Brew. Beyond the over 400 different mobile devices supported, ROAM’s technology also runs on PCs/Macs and proprietary transaction terminals. ROAM’s technology innovation is lead by Michael Arner, CTO and John Rodley, VP of Engineering, both are co-founders of the company and veterans of the mobile software space for over a decade.

ROAM’s initial solutions target the large untapped market of mobile professionals and micro-merchants - from outdoor sales, plumbers, electricians, to enterprises with fleets of delivery drivers, installers, or direct sellers like Avon, Mary Kay, Herbalife, or Tupperware.

ROAM’s fully hosted service model delivers generic payment applications like secure credit and prepaid debit card processing, as well as customized business applications for enterprises like real-time order entry, inventory management, CRM and more. ROAM services include application provisioning and management to hundreds of different devices, as well as a 24 x 7 service & support center to help mobile professionals more conveniently do their business.

Mr. Graylin added: “This round of investment will further accelerate our technology and service offerings and help us expand to new territories through Ingenico’s large commercial presence. We are thrilled to have such a partner to work with.”
