An Action Thriller, "The Sun Rises East" can be described as "The Firm" meets "Rising Sun."
The screenplay version of "The Sun Rises East" was a semi-finalist (over (about 3,400 entries) in the International Screenwriting Awards and a quarter-finalist in the American Zoetrope, New Century
Here it goes a brief synopsis that is on the back cover of the book:
Daniel Matheson has the world by its tail. He has graduated magna cum laude in Harvard Law School. No mean feat. He’d be going to Japan with his Japanese fiancée, Hoshi Taguchi—to ask for her hand in marriage. Or rather, to get her father’s head nod. But, his grandfather is totally against it. A World War II veteran, he harbors tons of baggage against the Japanese.
Against his grandfather’s wishes, he goes to Japan, meets with Hoshi’s father and finally marries her on the condition that he goes to work for his father-in-law's company in Los Angeles. Unbeknownst to him, the L.A. division is run by a Japanese crime boss and a World War II criminal.
Daniel’s on his way up the corporate ladder when the FBI approaches him to persuade him to get the goods on his boss in return for immunity.
Daniel is at loss as to what to do. To rat on his boss or not? Enjoy immunity and suffer the risk of he and his family’s lives be forfeit in the ruthless hands of his boss or remain loyal to his boss at the risk of being nailed by the FBI? One way or the other, he’s in hot water. He’s at his wit’s end.
When the line between right and wrong is blurred, only a man’s conscience will find the path to righteousness.
"The Sun Rises East" is a hair-raising action thriller chock-full of intriguing twists and suspenseful actions.

Rose Shields’ dream is to become a famous musician. At 20, she has studied music in the Berklee School of Music for a year but has to take a hiatus because her mom, being a divorced parent, has run into financial difficulties. She finds a job as an assistant music teacher in her former high school. She looks forward to assimilate with the students, many of whom are her buddies. But what irks her off is the new music teacher, Marty Long, a disillusioned former rock singer, who is obnoxious and supercritical of the students and even her. His gut feeling tells her it’s hard to work hand-in-hand with him
Soon, one of her students turns up brutally murdered in the school. The Police find a blackened rose petal in the victim’s mouth—the calling card of the killer.
Who is the culprit? What is his motive for the killing? Could it be Marty? Will there be more murders?
Rose begins to investigate on her own amidst the police investigation. Her investigation leads her to the past. As she grows closer to the truth, it becomes a race against time—each step bringing her closer to the confrontation with the murderer. What she uncovers is a shocking truth that has been swept under the rug for over twenty years. How is she going to match wits and overcome the ruthless killer, who will stop at nothing to kill the girls, including her?
