Children’s Hospital Boston Unveils Its First Text-Message Fundraising Campaign
Children’s Partners with Boston’s Top Professional Athletes and Celebrities to Encourage Public to “Text 4 Kids.”
Boston, MA, November 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Children’s Hospital Boston, one of the world’s leading providers of pediatric research and care, today unveiled its first text-message fundraising campaign.
The campaign encourages New Englanders to “become a Champion for Children’s” by using text messaging on wireless devices to donate to Children’s Hospital’s patient care, cutting-edge research and community outreach initiatives. The program was conceived to facilitate donations to the world-renowned hospital from consumers of all ages, demographics and economic strata. With each text donation, $5 will be donated to Children’s Hospital Boston.
“Children’s Hospital Boston understands that every donation, large or small, makes a difference for our patients and their families,” said Children’s Hospital Trust Associate Vice President of Corporate Development and Marketing Carola Cadley. “We hope that ‘Text 4 Kids’ will be a valuable resource in our effort to close the gap between sickness and health for children.”
The public service announcement campaign features some of Boston’s most prominent professional athletes and celebrities including New England Revolution star forward Taylor Twellman, famed outdoorsmen and NESN personality Charlie Moore and Dropkick Murphy’s frontman Ken Casey.
The first of a multi-part PSA series features Mad Fisherman Charlie Moore and former hospital patient and cancer survivor Michael Fiacco, 11. The PSA is currently airing on NESN and can be viewed on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvfQveOEphU.
“Everyone’s been touched in some way by Children’s Hospital Boston—including me,” said Moore. “I’m excited to be part of a campaign that makes giving easy, regardless of who you are and what you do for a living. Together, these small donations can make a difference. “
The instructions are simple—users dial the number “4,” then the letters “KIDS” to shortcode 20222 to make a $5 donation. For more information on “Text 4 Kids,” visit www.childrenshospital.org/giving.
