Sunglasses Records Artist CoatesTwice Showcases ‘Supernova’ in Montreal
Chris Quotes (aka Puffy Coates) and DJ Sauce will be showcasing 'Supernova,’ the CoatesTwice debut album on Sunglasses Records Friday, November 27 at Les 3 Minots, 3812 Blvd. St. Laurent, Montreal.
Toronto, Canada, November 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Following their second consecutive standing-room-only show at Clinton’s Tavern in Toronto, Chris Quotes (aka Puffy Coates) and DJ Sauce will be showcasing the debut CoatesTwice album ‘Supernova’ Friday, November 27 at Les 3 Minots, 3812 Blvd. St. Laurent, Montreal.
The lineup is a who’s who of veterans and newcomers in the Montreal and Toronto hip-hop club scenes, including Chris Quotes and DJ Sauce, The Jonesz, Fund&Wra, Side C and Goosebumps Clik. Doors open at 10pm. Admission $5.
For Chris Quotes, the Montreal gig is a return to the roots of his career that began when lyricist Coates and producer ThinkTwice were fixtures of the Montreal hip-hop scene with such groups as Specifics, Typecast, and The Bank of Mount Real.
Producer Phil Kennedy (Think Twice), now based in Vancouver, has racked up sales of 50,000 units worldwide during the past five years. This is the first full-length CoatesTwice collaboration. Chris Coates’s songs have been featured on three previous releases produced by Think Twice.
“Supernova” advances their earlier hip-hop style through the post-bling club pulse of “Where’s the Cash At?” “Just The Tip,” “WeeOooh,” and “Tips of My Toes,” through the jazzy stylings of the title track, “Heat,” “Money in the Rhyme Book,” “The Only Hot Thing,” and “Fresh,” featuring Specifics. The album ends with four minutes of startling social commentary on “The Accomplice.”
“Where’s the Cash At?” and “Money in the Rhyme Book” are in heavy rotation in the college radio market.
Their 10-track ‘Supernova’ album is now available on iTunes or you can buy it directly by contacting chrisquotes@gmail.com.
