Vdot Systems Selects Quantum3D for Aero Vodochody L159 Cockpit
San Jose, CA, November 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of real-time visual simulation and embedded computing solutions, today announced that Vdot Systems, a company specializing in avionics systems integration of military aircraft, has selected Quantum3D’s IData Human Machine Interface (HMI) toolset to upgrade the cockpit display system in the Aero Vodochody L159 fleet being operated by the Czech Air Force.
Vdot Systems, located in Cypress, California has received a contract worth over four million Dollars to replace the cockpit multifunction displays in the L159 light combat aircraft.
Vdot Systems is a new company formed by key members of the team that originally developed the L159 avionics system for Aero Vodochody. James Lawson, the president of Vdot Systems, said the L159 program was purchased from Boeing following a recently-completed negotiation with Boeing, Aero Vodochody, and the Czech Government.
The Vdot Systems team has a long history of working with the IData Products from Quantum3D. “It seems to be a logical extension to partner with Quantum3D’s IData team” said Lawson. “They provide a well-integrated set of graphics development tools and experienced avionics engineers that are able to help us accelerate our product release.”
“We are very excited to be a part of the launch program for Vdot Systems,” said Ray Niacaris, Director of Embedded Software Sales for Quantum3D. “We have worked with Vdot Systems through a lengthy proposal effort and we are very pleased to have been chosen for this program. IData tools are designed to produce very high performance graphics applications on embedded systems using any RTOS or RTE based system, on almost any architecture,” said Niacaris.
Seventy-two L159’s were built by Aero Vodochody and the fleet is operated by the Czech Air Force. The L159 design evolved from the well-proven L39/L59 aerodynamic configuration. The airframe was improved and equipped with a modern military turbofan engine, integrated avionics, sensors and NATO weapons. Vdot Systems is integrating the first block of avionics changes for Aero Vodochody. The upgrade includes larger multifunction displays that incorporate a digital moving map and additional mission processing software that integrate various NATO-related enhancements for the Czech Air Force.
Vdot Systems recently moved to their new 10,000 square foot facility in Cypress, CA. James Lawson, an 18 year veteran of Boeing had been Chief Engineer of Integrated Tactical Avionics Programs at Boeing before starting Vdot Systems.
Vdot Systems will have a demonstration in the Quantum3D booth (1070) at the I/ITSEC Tradeshow, Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, November 30 – December 3, 2009.
About IData
An embedded graphical application must meet the rigors of real world requirements, where responsiveness and reliability are critical on constrained resources and tiny footprints. IData tools manage this while offering the flexibility to integrate with different operating systems, hardware and software. Graphical interfaces must display compelling content, including dynamic data displays with innovative user interaction, live video and sensor data, powerful geospatial information, and complex 3D content. The IData application development toolset and cross-platform graphical application engine enable you to develop and deploy high-powered embedded graphics applications at the highest level of performance.
