Boston Welcomes Hollywood Composer Misha Segal: Hitting the Money Note for The Crystal Ball, Predicting the Future of Lung Cancer Awareness, Prevention and the Cure
Hollywood composer Misha Segal performs at the first annual gala Crystal Ball to Benefit the Fight Against Lung Cancer, October 21, 2006 in Boston, co-hosted by the Lung Cancer Alliance.
Boston, MA, October 08, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Icon in his native Israel, Emmy-winning composer, veteran of the film and music industries; Misha Segal's most rewarding project was playing piano for his mother, Elisabeth, almost daily as she fought lung cancer. She said the music took her away. Elisabeth died on Mother’s Day 2001. What followed was a series of concerts across the country for cancer patients, their family, caregivers and supporters, called Beauty Found in Unlikely Places. Each city provided Misha a media platform to educate the public on the truth about lung cancer: that it kills more people than breast, colon, prostate, liver and kidney cancer combined, and that one need not be a smoker to be affected. Each concert gave insight into the unbeatable spirit of a woman who remains an inspiration to all who have known her. See media clips from the concert series here http://www.femalecd.com/misha.mov.
On October 21, 2006, that tradition continues: Misha will perform at The Crystal Ball, the first annual gala to benefit The Lung Cancer Alliance (the only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to patient support and advocacy for people leaving with lung cancer and those at risk for the disease) and Boston area lung cancer research programs. To be held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston, this event honors leaders in Boston area hospitals’ lung cancer research and is attracting members of the region's medical and corporate communities as well as philanthropists, government officials and other regional luminaries. Among the confirmed attendees are Billy Starr (creator of the Pan-Mass challenge), Dr. Deborah Morisini-Huschle (Dana Reeve’s sister), and Mayor of Boston Tom Menino and the First Lady, Angela.
For tickets and sponsorship opportunities, please contact Santa Fareri, CEO Stage One Productions and Executive Producer of The Crystal Ball, (781) 828-5050; tell her Misha sent you.
While in Boston, Misha will make himself available for in-store opportunities promoting his two-CD set, Female and Female Part II, the solo piano collection which forms the musical core of Misha’s charitable concert series. He has committed to donate 10% of the proceeds from in-store event CD sales to the Lung Cancer Alliance.
