The Gallery Group at The Art Institute of Jacksonville Presents the Annual Best of AI Jacksonville Juried Student Art Exhibition
The Art Institute of Jacksonville to Host Opening Reception for Annual Student Art Show on Thursday December 3, 2009.
Jacksonville, FL, December 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Gallery Group at The Art Institute of Jacksonville will host the opening reception for the annual Best of AI Jacksonville juried student art exhibition on Thursday December 3, 2009 from 5 PM to 8 PM.
The Gallery Group is a focus group of Graphic Design and Web Design & Interactive Media students responsible for curating, installing and advertising exhibitions throughout the school year. Students develop a concept, research artists and curate each exhibition with the intention of further defining the relationship between “fine art” and design.
The Best Of show is open to all students at The Art Institute of Jacksonville. Department directors and members of the faculty will select the artworks and guest jurors will present awards of excellence.
“The Best Of show is one of The Art Institute of Jacksonville’s most visible activities for showcasing the work of current students created throughout the academic school year,” said Tonya Lee, faculty member and Director of the Gallery Group. Lee added, “Unlike previous Best Of shows, where department directors and faculty members have assisted in the judging process, this year only art professionals from the Jacksonville community have been selected as jurors.”
The Gallery Group managed the open call to all students between Monday, November 23 and Wednesday, November 25. At that time students were permitted to submit two pieces from previous class projects to be evaluated and reviewed by their department directors for acceptance into the Best Of show.
The opening reception will include light refreshments and an opportunity for those in attendance to speak with the students one on one about their art work. The works will be displayed in The Art Institute of Jacksonville Gallery from December 3, 2009 through the end of January 2010. The Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 8 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM until 4 PM.
