Mouth to Mouth Inks Management Deal with Joseph Q. Bretz
San Francisco, CA, October 10, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Mouth to Mouth - the dynamic San Francisco Bay Area rock band - has signed an exclusive management deal with video and music producer / entrepreneur Joseph Q. Bretz.
The members of Mouth to Mouth - singer Jonny Scullion, lead guitarist Alex Lasner, bass player/keyboardist Scott Funkhouser, and drummer Andrew Keating - fuse the swagger and pop sensibility of classic rock and roll with the slashing energy of punk. They are currently recording a full-length album at Oakland’s Studio 880 with producer/engineer John Lucasey.
Bretz offered to represent Mouth to Mouth after seeing the band in concert at Studio Z, a popular San Francisco nightclub of which he is a managing partner. “They were headlining the release party for their CD/DVD combo ‘My Fee is Lust,” which they had produced themselves,” he said. “I was blown away.
“My first thought was, ‘This is what rock and roll needs to be again.’ They are truly talented musicians, so I decided to use my experience in concert and club promotion and my contacts in the entertainment industry to bring them the attention they deserve.”
“Joe really believed in us from Day One,” said Scullion. “He hooked us up with [producer] John [Lucasey]. Everything Joe has promised us, he’s done.”
To expand their audience beyond a growing California constituency, Mouth to Mouth is embracing the traditional approach of recording and live performance. “But we’re also taking advantage of viral video promotion, MySpace and other new media outlets to get the word out,” Bretz said.
Bretz previously developed and produced, with business partner Richard Verdoni, the television special “Gumby’s 50th Birthday Gala,” as well as the syndicated “California Music Awards 25th Anniversary” video extravaganza with performances and interviews by recording artists such as Sammy Hagar, Smash Mouth, Papa Roach, Mix Master Mike, Bob Weir, The KGB, Joe Satriani, No Doubt, Alien Ant Farm, Train, and Sly & the Family Stone.
Among Bretz’s other production credits are “Smash Mouth - Live from the Fillmore” -- a concert film featuring the platinum-selling rock band at San Francisco’s legendary Fillmore auditorium -- for the Music Choice cable-TV channel; an installment of HBO’s live-music series “Reverb”; and the “Now and Zen” concert film including performances by Alanis Morissette, Macy Grey, Melissa Etheridge and Shelby Lynne.
