D.I.S.S. Announces Rocky Mountain Laboratories Selects ITS for NHP Telemetry Based Biodefense and Infectious Disease Research
Dexter, MI, December 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, MT, part of the NIAID, has chosen ITS (Integrated Telemetry Systems) as the supplier for non-human primate (NHP) telemetry hardware and data collection and analysis software to operate in its BSL-4 primate telemetry facilities. This makes the RML the latest in a series of leading biodefense and infectious disease research laboratories to choose ITS telemetry hardware and software for their research efforts. The ITS telemetry system of implants, radio frequency signal capture equipment, and data logging and analysis software is already being implemented in research facilities at USAMRIID, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, the Tulane National Primate Research Center, as well as the newly constructed NIAID Integrated Research Facility building at Ft. Detrick, MD.
“The potential to save countless lives from devastating diseases rests in the work done by these facilities. We are grateful that they have selected the ITS telemetry system as their provider for such a critical component of their research infrastructure,” says Michael Hastings, President of D.I.S.S., the commercial entity behind the ITS telemetry system. “There is an added advantage when all the sites performing similar research are using the same data collection and analysis platform, because this enables the researchers to share data and leverage the information they are acquiring among the different facilities.”
About RML
RML is a research facility studying infectious microbes that cause disease in humans and animals, ultimately hoping to develop new diagnostics, vaccines, and treatments for these diseases. Because of its 100-year history and expertise in infectious disease research, RML is poised to play a leading role in the effort to improve the nation's knowledge about emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
About ITS
ITS (Integrated Telemetry Systems) was conceived in response to industry demand for a higher quality biotelemetry system to monitor canines and non-human primates. Comprised of efforts by D.I.S.S., LLC, RMISS, Inc. and Konigsberg Instruments, Inc., the ITS collaboration results in a high-quality, accurate and reliable system, combining the three companies' products and expertise in software data acquisition, telemetry electronics, and animal research.
