Guitar Player Magazine Hails Mouth to Mouth’s Alex Lasner
San Francisco, CA, June 01, 2006 --(PR.com)-- A new guitar hero is in the making. Guitar Player magazine has praised Alex Lasner -- lead guitarist for the rising San Francisco Bay Area band Mouth to Mouth -- as “a great young player” with nimble technique.
Reviewing the band’s self-produced CD/DVD “My Fee Is Lust” in the May 2006 issue of Guitar Player, writer Darrin Fox called it “a great debut…and a 6-string oasis in the wan modern rock world.” Fox wrote that it’s rare to find “cool guitar tones and exciting playing” in contemporary rock, but Lasner comes through with a memorable personal style that enhances the band’s “funky syncopations with organic…tones.”
“I was pretty ecstatic about the review,” said Lasner, taking a break from sessions for Mouth to Mouth’s next release -- an album being recorded at Oakland’s Studio 880 with producer/engineer John Lucasey. “[Fox] compared my playing to Slash [of Guns ‘N Roses] and Jeff Beck, two of my favorite players,” Lasner added. “It doesn’t get much better than that.”
Lasner, singer Jonny Scullion, bass player/keyboardist Scott Funkhouser, and drummer Andrew Keating came together in the summer of 2004 to form Mouth to Mouth. Their exceptional musicianship enhances a singular blend of classic rock and roll, raw punk-rock energy and smart, passionate songwriting.
According to Lasner, his band-mates were pleased to see him singled out and equally thrilled at getting a positive Mouth to Mouth review in such a renowned publication. “They were all really stoked for me,” he said. “We’ve had newspaper snippets written about us, but this is national coverage.
“We’re hoping that this is the first of many more positive reviews. The guys at Guitar Player told me that they’re interested in hearing some new music from us, so I’m pretty happy that we’re in the studio now.”
Songs from Mouth to Mouth’s debut CD/DVD combo “My Fee Is Lust” are available via iTunes.
