Vacation in a Bottle Announces a 252-Percent Increase in Sales for 2009
2009 Proved to be the Year of Much Needed Relaxation
Dallas, TX, December 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The past year will be remembered as one of America’s most stressful.
Words like ‘foreclosure’ and ‘bankruptcy’ were commonplace in everyday conversation as the economy remained unstable and unemployment rose more than 10-percent, leaving consumers with little options and even smaller budgets for an escape from daily stress.
At $1.99 a bottle, functional beverages like Vacation in a Bottle (ViB), which calm while maintaining focus, emerged as the inexpensive and effective solution for Americans across the country.
“2009 was really the year for relaxation beverages. Americans have grown dissatisfied with energy drinks and the jittery side effects. The relaxation category had a surge of new product entrants and ViB experienced a 252-percent increase in sales,” explains Travis Hollman, ViB co-founder.
With the relaxation beverage explosion, many extreme relaxation beverages sparked a beverage war within the category. Melatonin-based drinks with controversial ingredients raised consumer concern and skepticism for the entire category leaving family friendly beverages like ViB to educate consumers on the benefits of non-melatonin based beverages.
“Vacation in a Bottle’s main ingredient is L-theanine. It is the same amino acid derived from green tea leaves and gives ViB its ability to provide calm while maintaining focus. One bottle of ViB has the equivalent of five cups of green tea,” explains Hollman.
This year Vacation in a Bottle expanded distribution throughout the Southwest and Pacific Northwest regions of the U.S. adding 69 distributors and major retail outlets including Albertsons, 7-Eleven, Fred Meyers, Jacksons, Racetrac and QuikTrip.
“In 2008, we set out to chill-out America. This past year has been very significant for our brand and the relaxation category as a whole. We expect the momentum to continue through 2010 as we add distribution in new markets,” adds Hollman.
Vacation in a Bottle can be found at local independent retailers, select national grocery and convenience stores and online at www.drugstore.com.

About ViB
Dallas entrepreneurs Travis Hollman and Johnny Dela Valdene know a few things about fun. Right on the heels of their hit toy, The Marshmallow Shooter, the fun-preneurs are at it again with their latest creation, ViB (Vacation in a Bottle).
ViB [pronounced Vibe] is leading the next drinkable trend: the relaxation beverage. Hollman and Valdene launched ViB after seeing a growing backlash against the energy drink market. ViB’s main ingredient is the amino acid L-Theanine, the same ingredient that gives green tea its calming effect. Combined with other amino acids and B-vitamins, ViB is a low-sugar, no caffeine, lightly carbonated beverage that relaxes, while increasing focus and concentration.
And, ViB has tremendous star power behind it. Singer and actress Jessica Simpson says, “Vacation in a Bottle is the most refreshing surprise. With my crazy schedule “ViB” helps me to relax and stay focused. I feel less stressed and more balanced after just one. Who doesn’t love to go on a vacation! I can be there every day with Vacation in a Bottle.”
ViB has been the relaxation beverage of choice in many late night and reality show green rooms. Celebrity investors include: Cincinnati Bengals sensation Roy Williams, Dallas Stars’ Forward Mike Modano, Mavericks’ President Donnie Nelson, Phoenix Suns forward Amar’e Stoudemire, and Green Bay Packer Great, Marco Riviera.
ViB is available nationwide at major retailers including 7-Eleven, Arco AM/PM, QuikTrip, Albertsons, United Market Street and many other independent retailers nationwide.
