Whippet-Cross Voted Top Film Director
Young Filmmaker submits the wrong version of his film to festival and wins.
Stafford, United Kingdom, October 12, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Young film maker Greg Mckinney of Stafford, was filled with excitement when his film short, ‘Sticks, Licks and Paradiddles’ was announced as the winner of the documentary category at The Stafford Film Festival. But when they went on to show the film to a packed ‘Gatehouse’ theatre, he realised that the version he had entered was not the final cut.
“It was real mixed feelings,” said Greg. “Like often happens with deadlines, you find yourself working right up to the line and with only ten minutes to go. I must have picked up the wrong DVD by mistake – a cut where I had given the ‘dog’ the Directors credit as a joke. And when it came up on the screen and was announced that the top prize went to ‘Sonny Boy,’ I wasn’t sure how to react. However, 24 hours on, I realise that it’s only a small detail and an amusing one at that. The important thing is that I won!”
The film covered the story of local drummer Joe Blanks and his bid to win TV talent contest ‘Let me Entertain You.’
