Event Synopsis:

The insurance industry has traditionally been regulated at the state level. In the wake of the economic crisis, there have been calls to move to a more Federal-like regulatory environment in order to provide uniformity to the products sold as well as more central oversight of the industry. A number of states have taken the first step in this process by signing onto the Interstate Insurance Compact, which is a multi-state agreement aiming to consolidate the sales practices and regulatory oversight of insurance products. The bill currently affects: annuity, life, disability and long-term care products; however, it could be expanded to cover all insurance in the future.

How, why, and to what extent this bill will affect the insurance industry should be an issue of great concern to you and your firm. It has the potential of opening up new interstate markets for your products as well as the potential of introducing a new level of scrutiny of your business practices. The Knowledge Group is producing a Live Webcast, which will explore the issues and concerns surrounding these changes and will provide valuable information and analysis. Sweeping Changes to Insurance Industry: The Interstate Insurance Compact & Its Impact Live Webcast is a two-hour session with the industry's best leaders and most prominent experts.
