Lincoln, NE, December 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Career Athletes, the leading career education and resource provider for graduating and alumni collegiate athletes, announces a new partnership with the University of Nebraska. Under the terms of the partnership, Career Athletes will become Nebraska’s official career education provider, supplying its student-athlete graduates with the tools necessary as they transition from the playing field to the workplace.
"Nebraska Athletics is excited to partner with Career Athletes to further demonstrate our strong commitment to preparing student-athletes for life after sports,” said Keith Zimmer, Associate Athletic Director for Life Skills, University of Nebraska Athletics. "Career Athletes will provide yet another resource for current and former Nebraska student-athletes to connect with employers who value competitive traits.”
Through the agreement with Nebraska, Career Athletes will work with the Athletic department to offer Nebraska’s current student-athletes on-campus training and career development seminars. CareerAthletes.com will provide Nebraska’s graduating seniors and alumni a customized, “Nebraska Networking Site” on which they can access additional career education resources, including alumni mentors, targeted career opportunities and potential employers looking for former athlete job candidates.
“The new partnership with Career Athletes will also benefit Nebraska’s letter winners, N Club members, by encouraging them to remain connected with the department, as well as providing career mentoring opportunities,” said Zimmer.
Nebraska’s student-athletes also are encouraged to seek employment opportunities through Husker Hire Link, the Career Services website which connects students with opportunities.
"The University of Nebraska, its Athletic Department and Life Skills program set the standard for schools with a clear commitment to athletics, academics, personal development and service," said Chris Smith, CEO of Career Athletes. "We’re thrilled that in addition to all its current programs, Nebraska also sees Career Athletes as an asset to its mission of preparing student athletes for life after they graduate.”
