Enviro-Solutions and Borael Solutions Help Algoma University Goes Green
Ontario, Canada, December 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Algoma University, one of Canada’s most respected liberal arts universities located in Ontario, has just received a certification of accomplishment from Boreal Solutions, a jansan distributor based in Ontario, recognizing the university’s commitment to becoming a Greener and more sustainable school.
Along with Boreal Solutions, the university has been working with Enviro-Solutions, a leading manufacturer of Green cleaning products.
Together, the “team,” as they called themselves, has been testing and evaluating cleaning products that are proven safer for the university’s staff and students, are environmentally preferable, and also meet the performance needs of the school.
According to Mike Sawchuk, vice president and general manager of Enviro-Solutions, the goals of the one-year project have helped the school not only transfer to Green cleaning and sustainability but adopt these measures as well:
· Eliminate toxic and corrosive materials used to clean and maintain the campus
· Improve energy efficiency
· Reduce the amount of waste generated by the school
· Transfer to only Green-certified cleaning products bearing either the GreenSeal® or EcoLogo™ label.
Selecting Green-certified products was a requirement because it guarantees that the products selected have been independently evaluated and proven to have less impact on users, building occupants, as well as the environment when compared to comparable products.
“One of the biggest and surprising achievements [in this process] is that the Green measures have resulted in no additional cost to the university,” notes Kevin Hemsworth, Divisional Director of External Relations for Algoma University. “In fact, we may even be saving money as a result of this team effort that [also] helps the school continue to be a leader in environmental stewardship.”
