Help Hammer Out Breast Cancer
Newly Certified Interior Redesigners, Graduates of Bakersfield-Based Training Course, Help Hammer Out Breast Cancer
Bakersfield, CA, October 14, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Having just graduated from a five-day training intensive, the nation’s five newest IRIS Certified Interior Redesigners are now equipped to create low-cost beauty in homes as well as to help eradicate breast cancer. Interior Redesign Industry Specialists (IRIS) is a national organization of nearly 1,000 professionals who redesign interiors with components a client already has and who “stage” homes for a quicker sale.
“This month is devoted to breast cancer awareness, so instead of our normally mundane graduation gift we awarded Tomboy Tools’ Pink for a Purpose Hammer to graduates,” says IRIS interior redesign trainer and staging coach, Debra Blackmon, who taught the course in Bakersfield, California. The hammers might be used for hanging art gallery-style arrangements of pictures on a homeowner’s wall – one technique of many used for maximum impact on a tight budget.
For each pink hammer purchased, Tomboy Tools donates $6.00 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, whose mission is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease through research, education, screening and treatment.
This month’s graduates were Mary Fugitt and Angela Schils of Bakersfield, Nancy Hargis of Santa Rosa, Judy Hartman of Fresno and Susan Moranda of Merced. Their hands-on training included the secrets of transforming rooms to reflect the client’s tastes, lifestyle and personality, as well as how to create ambiance that sells houses faster in today’s slower real estate market. The graduates also learned how to audition for HGTV’s Decorating Cents, the TV program that some say marked the beginning of today’s rage for home makeovers.
Information on the Interior Redesign Industry Specialists organization can be found at weredesign.com, and information on fighting breast cancer is at komen.org. For more information on the IRIS Certified Interior Redesigners course, contact Debra Blackmon of Bakersfield at debrablackmon.com.
