ELAN GMK Announces the Release of ELAN Proofer Suite 3.0 and ELAN Avalanche 1.0
Simi Valley, CA, October 13, 2006 --(PR.com)-- ELAN GMK, developers of innovative document scanning and image processing solutions worldwide, announced today the release of ELAN Proofer Suite 3.0 which exports 'ready for on demand printing' PDF files. Also new is ELAN Avalanche, a high performance distributed image processing and conversion system.

The seamlessly integrated applications constitute the best in class in on-demand book production systems. Features include color image batch processing modules for scanning, page deskew, border removal, page segmentation, thresholding, halftone image descreening and back to front page alignment. New in this release is the inclusion of tab creation, insertion and tight integration with Xerox's FreeFlow. "We had been seeking a way to allow more automation of processing, without compromising the flexibility and accessibility of individual page 'exceptions' that our previous solutions offered," says Michael Jahn, Product manager at ELAN. ELAN Avalanche™ Process Server
New from ELAN GMK is a collection of server-based applications running on Windows XP Workstations or on Window 2003 Servers that provides automated services for processes files using the concept of Hotfolders. These processes can be raster image processing, Deskew and/or PDF conversion as an example, which is the primary functionality of the application. However, the solution is a general purpose process automation solution that can be expanded with plug-in modules performing all kinds of other functions like sending files to email, FTP or web services or authenticating users. The service is able to run in unattended mode and provides logging capabilities for the processes. The logging is implemented by deploying an SQL database server. The processing engines can also be called "Conversion Engines" or "Processing Engines."
The ELAN Avalanche™ server is highly scalable and provides massive and redundant services for any scale of conversion operations.
Each processing engine comes with a QC application that can be run from any client on the local network.
PDF, JDF and XML Support. XML is rapidly gaining acceptance as a way of transferring information between programs, so it was a natural choice for them to use as process setting files to automate tasks. No need to create new settings for repeat or pick up jobs.
Xerox Business Partner. Customers whom are in the book publishing market with a large archive of books can use the solution to scan pages and clean them up for either digital or offset printing.
