Usability Marathon – Results of the First International Online Conference
Moscow, Russia, December 23, 2009 --(PR.com)-- On 12-21 October 2009 UIDesign Group organized the second annual Usability Marathon, a series of seminars on practical issues of usability research and user experience design. This year the Marathon was held online, free of charge for attendants from all over the world.
The Usability Marathon became an important event both for the Russian and foreign audience, because it included an impressive line-up of speakers, distinguished expert, authors of popular books and publications, leading consultants and managers of well-known companies. Among them were Kim Goodwin, Cooper (USA), Bill Albert, Bentley University (USA), Jeff Sauro, Oracle (USA) and other leading experts from Australia, China, Germany and the USA.
The official language of the conference was English. According to the survey results 70% of participants did not need translation; however, the organizers arranged an online broadcasting of simultaneous translation to support the Russian audience. Materials that are now available at the event’s website are: shorthand records (in Russian), presentation slides and video recordings of the past webinars.
The online format of the Usability Marathon made it a truly international event with approximately 400 unique attendants from 34 countries. Every participant attended 2-3 webinars on average. As predicted by the organizers, most participants were from Russia. The USA followed in second place, and then came Germany, Ukraine and Canada.
Overall feedback on the Marathon was very good (90% of the respondents spoke positively on the content and organization of the event). Most of the attendants would prefer that next year’s Marathon be held online as well. Many people were surprised that free webinars can be so informative and useful.
