Karaoke World Championships USA Issues Public Challenge to Oprah Show
Karaoke World Championships USA has sent a challenge to the producers at the Oprah Show to allow their 2010 male and female champions to compete in her next Karaoke Challenge.
Mason, OH, December 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Karaoke World Championships USA has sent a challenge to the producers at the Oprah Show. Wendell Payne President of Karaoke World Championships USA says,
"We had discussed our competition and all the great things about karaoke with two producers prior to their decision to run 'Oprah's Karaoke Challenge'. We were very happy that they portrayed Karaoke in a positive way and provided the opportunity to karaoke singers. However we felt that a few weeks of qualification was not comparable to our ten months of nationwide competition. So we made the decision to challenge the Oprah Show to allow our 2010 National Champions, 1 male and 1 female to compete on her next Karaoke Challenge."
KWCUSA anxiously awaits their decision. KWCUSA is providing the opportunity for karaoke singers across the country to compete and ultimate win the chance to represent our country in world competition in September 2010. Local qualifying competitions began in October will continue to run until May 31, 2010. State and Regional competitions will follow in June and July.
In other news, KWCUSA announces a public challenge to select National Wildcard Karaoke Singers. Registered KWCUSA members will be allowed to vote for 1 male and 1 female to participate in the national competition. The karaoke singers you vote for must be qualified KWCUSA regional competitors. KWCUSA membership registrations are being accepted now and more details will be announced at a later date.
South West participation growing rapidly.
KWCUSA's Cindy Bellelli announced the state and regional championship venues. The Blue Tower Lounge at Buffalo Thunder Casinos and Resort in Santa Fe, New Mexico will host the Region 8 competition on Friday July 16th and Saturday July 17th 2010. Region 8 includes Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah.
The state championships will be held in Roswell, New Mexico on June 12th and 13th 2010 at the Performing Arts Center at Eastern New Mexico University Roswell. New Mexico already has 16 participating venues and Texas has 22.
The KWCUSA is asking all local preliminaries to submit videos of their finals. There has been a lot of interest from the media in the ability to follow the competition from the local competitions all the way through to the world competition. It would be impossible to staff hundreds or thousands of competitions for video. By asking each local competition to submit video KWCUSA can provide this continuity of content.
Along with the local video, KWCUSA is putting together a hardware package that will allow all KWCUSA venues to Live Stream their competitions via KaraokeUniverse.net. Details of this package will be available shortly. State and Regional competitions are being contacted to setup live streaming along with the national championships.
Sonic Records and KWCUSA have entered into an agreement that provides the opportunity for KWCUSA competitors to appear on national tv. SonicRecords.com produces and airs a National TV Show entitled Sonic Records Showcase on DirecTV in 20 million U.S. households in 50 states. The show airs once every 6 weeks at 12 Midnight Eastern/9 PM Pacific. The purpose of the show is to promote its download music site. SonicRecords.com also manages a professional multi-camera HD video production crew that travels throughout the U.S. The content of the 30-minute show features bands and singers with music downloads available on SonicRecords.com and a Karaoke segment at the end of the show. Please check the KWCUSA web site for more details.
