La Mirada Armada Swimmers Score High in IMX at Belmont Plaza
La Mirada, CT, December 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Senior-1 Coach Todd Jacobsen announced the recent success of The Armada Swim Team at the IMX/Sprint Cup Challenge hosted by the Beach Swim Club at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Ca. Site of many Olympic swimming trials as well as NCAA championship swim meets, the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool is recognized for its excellent pool facilities and the fast swim times achieved there.
This was the first competition for The Armada in the newly established IMX Challenge which assigns IMX points for each event based on the ranking of the swimmer's times in the International IMX point standards. Jacobsen explained that the IMX scores allow comparison of swimmers in different age groups. Since the IMX scores are based on a National percentile ranking, swimmers of different ages can be compared based on this ranking rather than on swim times.
The IMX points for each event were tallied to determine an IMX point total for each swimmer. “IMX scores over 2000 represent significant achievement,” according to Jacobsen, “while totals over 3000 place the swimmer at a very elite level.” Coach Jacobsen was very impressed with the IMX scores of several swimmers noting that it was still early in the short course season and the team was training hard without any tapering before the meet. “These IMX scores are remarkable,” added Jacobsen, “because the swimmer must be very proficient in all strokes to achieve such high marks.”
“The IMX scores show our swimmers are excelling in all age groups,” concludes Jacobsen, “The Armada is on track to have a very exciting season.”
About the La Mirada Armada Swim Team (RMDA)
The La Mirada Armada was established when the Industry Hills Aquatic team moved to the new La Mirada Splash Aquatic Center in 2006. This move allowed The Armada to begin with an exceptional coaching staff that had worked together for years and brought over 75 years of combined coaching experience to the team. Many swimmers from the Industry Hills team followed their coaches to The Armada and contributed to its rapid rise among the elite swim teams of Southern California. The tradition of excellence continues as swimmers new to the sport as well as experienced swimmers who transfer to The Armada compete at the highest levels throughout Southern California and the Nation.
Senior Coach Todd Jacobsen was an All-American swimmer at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Coach Jacobsen successfully coached at University of California, Irvine (UCI) from 2005 to 2007 before joining The Armada as its Senior-1 coach. When not on the La Mirada Armada's pool deck, Coach Jacobsen can be found coaching the swim teams at Sonora High School in La Habra, California.
The La Mirada Armada offers swim programs for all ages and skill levels. Further information about the various programs and membership can be found at www.ArmadaSwim.com.
