Yats Wine Cellars Reports Record Participation of Foreign Tourists in Recent Pinot Noir Wine Tasting Held in Clark Freeport Philippines
Public wine tasting events dubbed Yats Wine Experience have traditionally been patronized mostly by local wine enthusiasts but all that changed in the recent event held in November 2009. Wine lovers from Singapore, China/Hong Kong, Korea and Japan dominated the attendance.
Hong Kong, Hong Kong S.A.R., December 28, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Yats Wine Experience is a regular series of public wine tastings that Yats Wine Cellars hold in varying locations and venues for the purpose of uplifting the knowledge and exposure to wine for novices and connoisseurs alike.
Ticket price is quite modest - from US$25 to 50, not inclusive of optional dinner. Normally, 80% of participants of these events are mainly local wine lovers but in the November 2009, there was a flood of interest and attendance from wine lovers flying in from all major Asian cities.
Clark Freeport was the largest off-shore air base of the USA until it was reverted back to the Philippines govermentment in the 80s to be converted into a special economic zone. Clark has been a well-kept secret until international companies like Hong Kong-based Yats International Leisure Philippines brought it back into the limelight of Asian travellers and businessmen with exciting projects.
One of the most frequented places in Clark Freeport is the Clark Wine Center located on the main highway MA Roxas. It is a 1ha property with a stand-alone 2-storey white building that houses thousands of bottles of vintage wine including not only the ubiquitous Lafites, Petrus and Romanee Conti but also interesting finds in the sub-US$100 price range. Of primary interest are the 20-40 year-old Bordeaux and Burgundy all properly aged for optimum enjoyment today.
Not far down the road located inside the once-famous Mimosa Leisure Estate, wine lovers congregrate in the fine dining Yats Restaurant and Wine Bar. This wine restaurant has two walk-in wine cellars housing some extremely interesting bottles. Cuisine is French Mediterranean but English chef Philip Golding will do off-menu requests or fine tune an a la carte order to pair better with the wine selected for the evening.
